Born 13 January 1925, Marion, Kansas. Parents Franz W. Banman and Maria Flaming.
Graduated from Grace Bible Institute (1953), Bethel College (1961), Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing (1955), and New York Medical College (M. S. 1966). Also studied midwifery in London (1957-58) and tropical medicine in Antwerp (1956-57).
Missionary with General Conference Mennonite Church in Congo 1956-1971. In Mexico 1974-1976.
Married Henry F. Thiessen 13 June 1987, Buhler, Kansas. He died 10 August 1996.
